Frontier Communications confirmed in an e-mail to the Times-Standard that problems with a cell tower are causing the service outage in Humboldt County, California. “I’ve since confirmed there is a cell tower down in this area, but nothing further has been reported,” Frontier western region spokeswoman Emily Tantare wrote. In a statement to the Times-Standard, AT&T’s press office states that some Humboldt County customers may be experiencing issues with their wireless, wireline, and U-verse services. “AT&T is working diligently to resolve the issue,” the statement reads. “We apologize for this inconvenience.” Some ATM machines in Eureka and Arcata are not working due to the outage.
