Now a Tower Lead at Apex Site Solutions, Nick Price was introduced to the business by his brother, also employed at Apex, while he was waiting for an opportunity with another employer outside of the industry. “Once I realized the opportunities with Apex and the advancement within the company I jumped on board,” Price told Inside Towers

Kenny Blakeslee, President at Apex, is glad he did. “Nick is one of those guys who will help out wherever, wants to learn everything, and can be trusted when he is given responsibility,” Blakeslee said. “He was part of the Wastewater Treatment Plant DAS project, helped with small cells as a tech, served as foreman on decom projects, and is now a lead for one of our top foreman on NSB’s while sitting at the head of our culture committee.”

In addition to his brother, Price cites Daniel Ernst, Jared Irish and Micah Massey as mentors from different divisions within the company, with Ernst being his first foreman on macro sites and DAS projects. His current foreman, Massey, has shown him ways to look at a situation from a different perspective.

Price is currently working on a T-Mobile new build project…a new experience for his whole crew. But diversity in the kinds of jobs is one of the many things Price enjoys being in the field. “It has been a great challenge to adapt to different carriers and standards,” he said. “We also just started our crew’s first Verizon project a few weeks ago.”

Most of all, Price said he relishes the satisfaction from completing a job from start to finish. “There is nothing more rewarding than seeing what you have accomplished,” he said, “Also the views from some of the sites are amazing, one of a kind.”

If there are any downsides to the job, Price said being away from home and his longtime girlfriend, Jenna, is one of them. And, in an effort to make his job easier, asks all the carriers out there to stick to the same color code for identification. His wish list would include having all carriers switch to hybrid trunks for installation.
