The Culpeper County Public School Board (CCPS) announced an agreement recently with Milestone Towers to install a 150-foot cell tower on the grounds of Culpeper County High School, according to the Culpeper Star Exponent.
Milestone, on behalf of client AT&T, began negotiations with the school in July, looking to erect the tower near the track at the high school. The agreement could provide $14,000 to $45,000 annually for the school depending on the number of carriers locating on the site.
The site would not only improve service for the carriers’ customers in the area, according to Milestone, but increase connectivity to public safety outlets via AT&T’s association with FirstNet. CCPS Director of Communications Laura Hoover said the school district investigated other tower placements at schools in the area before working with Milestone. Hoover said the company had explored siting possibilities with Stafford County Public Schools as well.
“We are looking at other locations depending on how things progress with the current CCHS location,” said Hoover.
