H5 Data Centers, a national colocation and wholesale data center provider, announced  last week it has broken ground in Ashburn, VA on a new data center. Upon completion, the three-story data center, located on Beaumeade Circle, will support 42 MWs of critical load across 255,000 square feet.

H5 accelerated its plans for rehabbing an existing facility when Dominion Power announced a two year delay in the development of their data centers. The delays, according to Data Center Frontier, are due to bottlenecks in the utility’s transmission infrastructure, pushing back plans until 2026.

“H5 Data Centers is investing extensively across our portfolio and today’s announcement of our Ashburn groundbreaking is an exciting start to a busy year of development,” said Josh Simms, founder and CEO of H5 Data Centers.

Northern Virginia is considered by global commercial real estate services firm, Cushman & Wakefield, as one of the largest data center markets in the world, offering resources for cloud service providers, content and technology companies, and Fortune 500 customers.
