Tower crews in the wireless infrastructure industry benefit greatly from the experience and mission-oriented attitudes of veterans who join their ranks. James Hays joined Tilson after serving four years in the U.S. Marine Corps. As a Corporal Combat Engineer, he knows what it means to be “on a mission.” He oversaw the placement and removal of landmines, fighting positions, and bridging operations.
Today, James is a Tower Foreman based out of Tilson’s Spanish Fort, AL office and is responsible for leading a crew of Tower Technicians, including project planning, work delegation, and tower troubleshooting and maintenance for major wireless carriers. He credits his service for focusing his approach to work.
“My military service means a lot to me and gave me a greater respect for our freedom,” said James. “I learned a lot during my service, including the importance of your work ethic, values, and integrity. At Tilson, I have always felt respected by my coworkers for my military service.”
Outside of work, James enjoys spending time with his family, going to church, and going hunting and fishing. James is from Meridian, Mississippi, where he lives with his wife, three children, two girls and one boy, and their dog, Simba. His favorite sport is football, especially any Southeastern Conference team, his favorite food is meat and taters, his favorite book is the Bible, and his favorite band is Whiskey Myers.
James is just one of the success stories that have come out of the tower industry’s recruitment and hiring of veterans.
