A Rooftop Antenna Mount Meant for Multiple Reasons

Rooftop antenna mounts usually come in two flavors. Either standard off-the-shelf, or a custom design for a unique solution. Blending the best of the two worlds, the PerfectVision Roofcraft™ Kit is an out-of-box rooftop antenna mount with a handful of components that can be configured in tens of thousands of ways, according to the company.

Using a modular component-based system, Roofcraft™ empowers A&E companies to design solutions to fit complex sites, and PerfectVision provides the support and assets needed for accurate site analysis, quick-mount analysis and simple CAD manipulation.

“We saw a need to have customizable rooftop mounting solutions in the industry.  Most rooftops are different, whether it be from a structural surcharge loading limitation, existing obstructions, or purely a space restraint.  We developed Roofcraft to put the power in the hands of the designers; to enable them to tailor a framing system to suit the specific needs of the site,” said Scott Stekr, VP of US Engineering at PerfectVision.

Five simple components — a welded ballast tray, cross-connect dual cross kit, pipe adapter weldment, pipe and horizontal support rail corner bracket — are all that are needed to build customized frames to accommodate nearly every site.

No two buildings are exactly the same, so a rooftop antenna mount must meet variables such as wind loading, the height of the building and the structure of the roof. The Roofcraft™ modular mounting system provides options concerning how the antenna is connected, including whether it is tethered, direct-bolted or ballasted.

The higher the parapet, the higher antenna must be elevated from the roof. The modular design allows the ballast placement to be spread out to accommodate the higher antenna elevations.

“Atlantic Construction Companies Inc appreciated working with the new sled mount roof top solution (Roofcraft) from Perfect Vision. They made for an easy install, as having pipe for the supporting connections allowed for quick setup. It was also nice to have one mount setup allowing for multiple configuration to adjust to dynamic rooftops that we experience regularly. We look forward to using them in the future,” said Jason Sowle, Director of Operations, Atlantic Construction.

The structural framework of the building, including the spacing of the joists and the main girders, will impact where the mount is to be direct-bolted. Modularity allows the spacing of the connection points to be customized to match the spacing of the roof joists.
