The Kirksville, Missouri, R-III school district is about to finish a project that would bring better communication between the district employees and the local bus system. The School Board approved a bid from Paragon Electric for $29,300 to construct a tower at the district’s central office. The bid also includes the cost of construction for a concrete base and security fence around the tower. With the new tower, radios will be able to be used from three to six miles on campus while the bus range will be 35-60 miles. Superintendent Dr. Damon Kizzire proposed the idea after noticing he couldn’t effectively communicate with staff across the campuses. During the February 2 City Council meeting a special-use permit for the 100-foot radio tower was approved.
