The Wireless Infrastructure Association (WIA) yesterday announced the following industry leaders have joined its Board of Directors:

  • Brendan Cavanagh, President and Chief Executive Officer, SBA Communications
  • Mike Kavanagh, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer-Towers, Crown Castle
  • Bud Noel, Executive Vice President and President, U.S. Tower Division, American Tower

Brendan Cavanagh succeeds former SBA President and Chief Executive Officer Jeff Stoops as a board member following Stoops’ retirement at the end of last year. Having recently been named Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer-Towers, Mike Kavanagh is now representing Crown Castle and Bud Noel is replacing American Tower President and Chief Executive Officer Steve Vondran on the board.

“I’m thrilled to welcome these industry leaders to WIA’s Board of Directors,” said WIA President and CEO Patrick Halley. “The companies they represent are the backbone of the networks Americans rely on every day. Their vision, leadership, and talent will be tremendous assets as we continue to pursue our vision of enabling connectivity everywhere. I look forward to working alongside them to advance the critical work of our industry.

“I’d also like to thank our departing board members for their service and invaluable contributions to WIA’s work on behalf of our industry. I am grateful to Jeff Stoops, Jay Brown and Steve Vondran for their years of service and leadership of WIA’s Board and wish all our departing board members the best in their future endeavors.”

“WIA is committed to driving a more connected tomorrow through its policy work at the local, state and federal levels. This includes our workforce development program, which is critical to meeting industry growth and developing the next generation of leadership,” said Alex Gellman, WIA Board Chair and Executive Chairman and Co-Founder of Vertical Bridge. “We are proud of our efforts on behalf of WIA’s members, and along with my fellow Board members, I look forward to welcoming Brendan, Bud and Mike as we continue to support the wireless infrastructure industry’s evolution.”

“Joining the WIA Board is an honor, and I am proud to align with fellow industry leaders that are shaping the future of wireless connectivity across the globe. The impact this organization has had over the years has set a standard of excellence and I look forward to working with my colleagues to continually raise that bar,” stated SBA’s Cavanagh.
