Bright Future for Broadband Equipment Sector

Touting itself as “The Trusted Source For Telecom and Networks Information,” the Dell’Oro Group research firm predicts another strong year for broadband. The firm noted that despite noticeable growth in the industry over the past two years, there is still ample room for expansion.

Dell’Oro cautioned that double digit growth could slow to single digit growth but noted that prospects remain very positive for 2023. Broadband enterprises generate $18 billion in yearly revenue on a global scale, so there remain numerous unexplored opportunities within the industry.

“Though slower, the revenue growth this year shows the continued emphasis on expanding and improving broadband network capacity by operators as well as state and national governments,” noted Dell’Oro analyst and author, Jeff Heynen.

“From a technology perspective, the focus for cable operators has to be on how they are leading the way in delivering a secure and customizable in-home experience. The conversation has to shift from speeds to what value consumers get along with those speeds,” he noted, pointing to the rivalry between fiber broadband and fixed wireless access providers. Both are predicted to further erode the dwindling DSL market. Heynen added the government investment in broadband continues to thrive, as countries around the world race to continue broadband rollout efforts.
