B+T Group’s Site360 Sees Better Than 20/20

Tulsa, Oklahoma-based B+T Group is a wireless engineering, site acquisition and construction services firm that leverages its proprietary Site360 technology to help customers shorten on-air time and save money. Created in 2014, the Site360 platform uses photogrammetry and 3D imagery to provide the most accurate asset documentation and measurement for state-of-the-art site inspection.

Founders Dinesh Bhat and Chad Tuttle, CEO, launched B&T Engineering in 2000, as a home-based consulting and structural engineering firm, after recognizing the growing need for structural analysis due to co-location on wireless towers. B+T Group now offers turnkey services with a collective mission to “accelerate the world’s communications through ambition, innovation and extraordinary service.”

“Site360 was first developed as an internal tool to give our engineers and CAD designers better information. The previous method to collect data was pretty antiquated,” says Tuttle.

B+T Group’s experienced network of pilots operate unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) that follow automated flight plans to collect comprehensive data on an entire communications site in one visit.

The Site360 platform then creates a 3D model of each tower, providing the site data our engineers need to complete the services we offer our clients. Because we are creating the engineering deliverables and oftentimes building the site itself, we understand exactly what information is needed. Site360 was developed with that in mind,” says Tuttle.

Part of the Site360 program is the virtual tour: SiteView, which gives the customer a 360-degree photographic tour of all assets on the site, down to the centimeter, in real time. They can access their drawings, high-resolution photos, and more. Base scans can then be updated from the field, making sure the customers’ SiteView stays current.

“Our clients,” which range from infrastructure construction companies and tower owners and operators to wireless carriers, “can navigate 360 degrees around the tower, zoom in close with the high-resolution, HD photography, and share information in real-time with other company stakeholders,” says Tuttle.

Site360 can be leveraged by multiple divisions: sales, engineering, construction, and operation, according to Tuttle. “Clients get access to a user dashboard where they can safely access their site information, download deliverables, and easily share information with vendors, from one convenient location. With accurate, real-time site data, clients save time and money by reducing human error and reducing the need to repeatedly climb towers.”

Tuttle adds that B+T Group knows the industry, “inside and out, and we really like being able to use that expertise to help our clients out with their tough challenges.” B+T Group’s expertise extends beyond data collection and management, offering Engineering Services such as A&E, tower analysis and tower modification, mount analysis and modification, civil and structural engineering for Macro, DAS and Small Cell Networks. Its Site Services include development, acquisition and civil engineering. The Field Services division includes wireless construction, audits and inspection with experienced tower climber employees who have spent at least 40 hours of training on B+T Group’s towers in Oklahoma.

“We have in-house experts in everything we do. It allows us to get to a solution for our customers quickly while maintaining quality,” says Tuttle. “Regardless of what you do at B+T Group, you’re serving customers, so every employee is trained in customer service practices like responsiveness, timeliness, setting expectations and learning from feedback.”

Drones and digitization are essential to the future of the wireless industry, according to Tuttle. “We don’t have a customer that isn’t exploring using drones in some way. There is still a lot of technology to be perfected, but our customers expect to have this data to save them mobilizations and cost,” says Tuttle. To stay one step ahead, Tuttle says they stay in constant communication with their clients and with each other to understand evolving needs.

With eight regional offices in the U.S. and an international office in Brahmavar, India, B+T Group has the ability to operate 24/7. “With more than 200 employees and engineering licenses in all 50 states, Puerto Rico, Virgin Islands and the Caribbean, B+T has completed A&E in 44 states in 2021. Our wireless construction footprint is mostly in the central part of the country,” says Tuttle.

Serving local communities where staff live and work is also an important value of B+T Group. It supports many causes and encourage employees to volunteer with organizations like the Community Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma, the American Heart Association, the Salvation Army, and more.
