American Tower (NYSE: AMT) yesterday announced an agreement with Detroit-based Global Telecom Solutions (GTS), in a move to expand the reach of edge network architecture to businesses.
Under the strategic agreement, GTS has access to the American Tower Data Center portfolio, with six Edge and three Metro Data Centers, for co-location. Leveraging its consultative approach to business customers and its more than 300 sales brokers, GTS may also benefit from future facilities, as American Tower can leverage the real estate of their more than 42,000 existing towers in the U.S. to build new data centers quickly.
“Our agreement with GTS will further incorporate American Tower’s co-location assets to drive the revolution of edge computing,” said Halle Shurland, Channel Sales Manager at American Tower. “With their 20 years of rich industry experience and consultative customer approach, we look forward to working together to provide exceptional service in the partner community.”
Commenting on the partnership, GTS CEO Mark Stackpoole remarked, “Adding edge co-location to our suite of solutions provides the infrastructure needed for 5G and the Internet of Things, allowing GTS to be the all-encompassing cloud solutions distributor our sales partners and our clients need.”
