CCA Announces 2018 Annual Achievement Award Winners

The winners of Competitive Carriers Association (CCA) 2018 Achievement Awards were announced yesterday during a ceremony at CCA’s Annual Convention taking place October 1-3. CCA’s Annual Achievement Awards honor individuals and companies for contributions to the industry and the community in the following categories: Outstanding Achievement, Outstanding Service, Industry Innovation, and the Neko Hamlett Associate Member of the Year.

“CCA is proud to recognize the achievements of distinguished individuals and companies who have made outstanding contributions to the wireless industry for the benefit of consumers across the United States,” said Steven K. Berry, president and CEO of CCA. “Congratulations to all of the winners who through their work demonstrated exceptional achievement and dedication to the mobile ecosystem.”

CCA’s 2018 Annual Achievement Award winners include:

Outstanding Achievement Award

Winner: Chris Kyle, VP, Industry Affairs and Regulatory, Shentel

This year, Chris was honored for tireless work on the wireless infrastructure bills and FCC regulations. He was instrumental in working to advance mobile broadband deployment working with the Virginia General Assembly. His work on the Virginia wireless zoning bill was a primary reason why it advanced – recognition expressed by both his colleagues and leading members of the House of Delegates.

Neko Hamlett Associate Member of the Year Award

Winner: John Dwyer, president, CEO, Interop Technologies

With more than 30 years of experience operating as a regional carrier and technology vendor, John has been dedicated to developing solutions that help advance regional carriers. He tirelessly works for the success for regional carriers and believes that technology vendors should act as an extension of the carrier’s engineering team to serve as a true partner.

Outstanding Service Award (Carrier)

Winner: Cellular One of Northeastern Arizona

Over the past 18 months Cellular One of Northeastern AZ has worked to bridge the digital divide for its Native American customers by innovating its Free4Life lifeline service to free-rate a number of mobile apps over its LTE network. As a result, customers have unlimited data access to use their wireless emergency alerts, Wells Fargo mobile banking, Facebook, Pandora, and Overdrive which allows for the streaming of library books on their mobile device.

Outstanding Service Award (Associate)

Winner: OSG Billing

Over the years, OSG Billing has built products and services to help companies seamlessly and effectively communicate with their customers. They have provided carriers with new technologies and developed innovative communicate solutions so they can remain competitive and relevant. OSG Billing has been an exceptional partner to CCA carrier members.

Industry Innovation Award (Carrier)

Winner: C Spire

This year, C Spire launched a new 5G-Fixed Wireless service available to many of its nearly 1 million customers throughout Mississippi. This service is affordable, month-to-month, blazingly fast, and doesn’t impose arbitrary data caps. This new service is innovative in every sense of the word, and we are proud to honor C Spire with this award.

Industry Innovation Award (Associate)

Winner: iconectiv

iconectiv’s LNPA Services, headed by Kathy Timko, successfully led and completed one of the largest IT projects in the U.S. – redesigning the country’s Number Portability Administration Center and transitioning operations – from Neustar to iconectiv. The project redesigned a system that facilitates the routing of calls and text messages for more than 650 million U.S phone numbers and created a modern and secure system for the new era of telecommunications.
