Telecom industry advocates praised congressional action Wednesday to send Jessica Rosenworcel’s renomination to the FCC to the Senate floor. The Senate Commerce Committee voted quickly. Rosenworcel, “already has served two terms on the FCC,” and chaired it officially since November and in an acting capacity since January, according to Ranking Member Roger Wicker (R-MS). He characterized Rosenworcel as “well-known to the committee, and responsive and engaged.”

NATE: the Communications Infrastructure Contractors Association, the Wireless Infrastructure Association and USTelecom praised the committee action and urged swift Senate confirmation. “NATE strongly supports FCC Chairwoman Rosenworcel for her continuing efforts to address critical communications issues in the United States, including such matters as broadband expansion, closing the digital divide and updating broadband maps,” said NATE Director of Government Affairs Todd Washam.

WIA President/CEO Jonathan Adelstein called Rosenworcel “a committed public servant whose experience and leadership merits the bipartisan support she received. She will be crucial for addressing the many pressing issues on the FCC’s agenda.” Swift Senate confirmation will enable her to “continue her leadership at the FCC in expanding broadband access to everyone in the U.S. and winning the race to 5G,” he explained.

“Chair Rosenworcel has deep expertise and an unshakable commitment to 100 percent broadband connectivity. Now more than ever, the FCC touches our schools, workplaces, hospitals and homes and there’s important work to do in 2022 and beyond,” said USTelecom President/CEO Jonathan Spalter.
