While his neighbors gathered to eat turkey and watch football, Joliet, IL resident Lawrence Gallagher allegedly used that time to try to steal copper wire from a local cell tower. The Joliet edition of The Patch reports that police officers on duty that Thanksgiving morning arrested Gallagher on the scene after discovering him in suspicious circumstances.
“An investigation revealed that Gallagher had been observed cutting copper ground wires at the base of a cell phone tower after unlawfully entering the property of Arbor Tek, whose property is where the cell tower is located,” noted Joliet police reports. “It was also determined that Gallagher had cut the fence located at the base of the cell tower.”
Gallagher was arrested without incident.having been caught with bolt cutters and copper wire. He was charged with criminal trespass, burglary, and possession of burglary tools. Gallagher spent the rest of the Thanksgiving holiday in the Will County Jail, with bail set at $10,000 for his release.
