Crown Castle International Corp. (NYSE: CCI) on March 9, appointed Daniel Schlanger as Chief Financial Officer, effective June 1, 2016, with Schlanger joining Crown Castle as Senior Vice President effective April 1.
“Dan is a great addition to our team with his unique combination of financial and operational experience,” said Jay Brown, Crown Castle’s current CFO and, effective June 1, 2016, president and Chief Executive Officer. “Dan’s proven track record of financial and operational leadership will be a great asset to us as we seek to grow Crown Castle and focus on maximizing returns for our shareholders.”
Schlanger, 42, previously was Senior Vice President and CFO of Exterran GP LLC, the general partner of Exterran Partners, L.P., from June 2006, through March 2009, and a director on Exterran GP LLC’s board of directors from October 2006, through November 2015. More recently, Schlanger was SVP of Global Products at Exterran Corp., an oil and gas products and services company, where he was responsible for global product strategy development and implementation. Before joining Exterran, Schlanger was an investment banker with Merrill Lynch & Co. where he focused on mergers and acquisitions and capital markets transactions in the energy sector. He holds a B.S. in economics from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.
According to Crown Castle’s SEC Form 8-K filing made in conjunction with the hiring announcement, Schlanger will earn $500,000 in base pay in 2016, and be awarded 8,137 CCI shares for RSUs or Restricted Stock Unit that vest in three stages for a total of $1.5 million on April 1, in 2017, 2018 and 2019. Additional bonus and stock sharing plans could net Schlanger millions in the next few years, according to SEC documents.
