FCC Commission Chairwoman Jessica Rosenworcel appointed volunteers to serve on the Communications Equity and Diversity Council (CEDC). Representatives from the telecom, broadcast and other industries are on the committee.
Additionally, Rosenworcel appointed chairs for the three working groups. Robert Brooks, Digital Solution Specialist, WHUR-FM, Howard University, will chair the Innovation and Access Working Group. Dominique Harrison, Ph.D., Director, Technology Policy, Joint Center for Political and Economic Studies, will chair the Digital Empowerment and Inclusion Working Group. Christopher Wood, Executive Director, LGBT Technology Partnership & Institute, will chair the Diversity and Equity Working Group.
They will help organize and lead the work of the council together with CEDC Chair Heather Gate, Vice President of Digital Inclusion, Connected Nation, and CEDC Vice Chairs Nicol Turner Lee, Ph.D., Brookings Institution and Susan Au Allen, National President/CEO, US Pan Asian American Chamber of Commerce Education Foundation.
Telecom committee members include: Michele Cober, Director of External Affairs & Strategic Alliances in Public Policy Group, Verizon; Ronald Johnson, Ph.D., Senior Advisor and Chief Strategist for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, Wireless Infrastructure Association; Louis Peraertz, Vice President of Policy Wireless Internet Service Providers Association; and Matthew Bauer, Vice President and Executive Director of Connected Communities Wireless Research Center.
In addition to Brooks, other broadcast committee members include: Robert Branson, President and CEO Multicultural Media, Telecom and Internet Council; Melody Spann Cooper, Chair and CEO Midway Broadcasting Corporation; Graham “Skip” Dillard, Vice President National and Community Partnerships WQHT-FM/WBLS-FM New York City, MediaCo Inc; Charlyn Stanberry, Vice President, Government Relations National Association of Broadcasters and James Winston, President National Association of Black Owned Broadcasters.
