Competitive Carriers Association’s Mobile Carriers Show (MCS) kicked off with comments from FirstNet CEO Michael Poth, and a lively keynote panel discussion entitled “Connecting America the Beautiful.” Mobile Carriers Show takes place April 5-7, at Caesar’s Palace.
During his comments, Michael Poth discussed the coming buildout of the country’s first responder network, and the importance of connectivity across rural America. He reiterated FirstNet’s commitment to working with rural carriers to promote mobile broadband, connecting first responders in communities across the country.
Iain Gillott, president of iGR, moderated the keynote panel featuring: Jay Bluhm, VP Network Planning, Sprint; David Debrecht, CTO, U.S. Majors, Nokia; George Reed, SVP, Solutions and Marketing, Huawei Technologies USA; and Stephen J. Zitnik, EVP and CTO, Interop Technologies. The panelists discussed the demands of consumer and business subscribers in rural America, reiterating that their needs do not differ from those of mobile users in urban areas.
“Our panelists all agree that connecting rural America should be a key element of any successful wireless strategy,” said CCA President/CEO Steven K. Berry. “At CCA’s Mobile Carriers Show, on our exhibit floor, in our keynotes and educational sessions, leading industry innovators are showing off the strategies and products that are bringing us closer to ubiquitous mobile broadband connectivity.”
