A survey released last week by U.S. News & World Report ranked the “Best States” in the country under various categories. Under the criterium of infrastructure, the survey broke findings down further into: Energy, Transportation, Internet Access. The magazine’s findings measured how well and how fast citizens can access the internet. This subcategory considers both the percentage of households with a broadband internet subscription and the share of a state’s population with access to high-speed broadband.
The survey weighted the category as being equally important to both physical infrastructure such as roads and bridges and delivery of energy resources.
“It would be nearly impossible for most Americans to complete their daily tasks without the internet today,” U.S. News & World Report stated. “Fast internet is also an important part of a state’s economy, allowing businesses in the state to compete globally.”
Nevada ranks first in the nation for internet access. Hawaii places second in this subcategory, followed by Utah, New Hampshire and Georgia. Only California, Utah and New Hampshire ranked in the top ten in both sub-categories.
