UPDATE Last week, Inside Towers reported that satellite company SES met the FCC’s December 5 Phase 1 deadline for accelerated C-band clearing. Now, USSI Global, a turnkey provider of customized broadcast, network, and digital signage services, says it helped SES meet that goal.

Phase I required SES to move all of its existing services that are received by incumbent earth stations out of the 3700-3820 MHz band. SES’s goal was to clear more than 700 Phase I sites. USSI Global helped SES successfully meet that goal by supporting approximately 600 Phase 1 earth station site transitions.

SES chose USSI Global as the primary vendor to help manage and execute the transition of earth station filtering to mitigate risks of 5G interference. USSI Global field technicians provided turnkey systems design, procurement, installation and commissioning of 5G filters and antennas, among other key hardware components.

USSI Global COO Anthony Morelli called the move “unprecedented,” conceived before the pandemic and conducted during its “apex.” Bronnie Fisher Fiely, Program Management Director, SES, said USSI Global has already supported the clearing of more than 100 Phase II sites.
