Copper Robbers in Pennsylvania

A Newville, PA man has been charged in a number of burglaries, mainly involving cell tower sites, throughout Cumberland, Franklin and Perry counties since August, according to the Chambersburg Public Opinion.

Police identified Steven James Gulliver, 29, as a suspect after he sold copper wire and tools at scrap yards and pawn shops, according to Pennsylvania State Police/Carlisle.

State police in Chambersburg reported several incidents of copper wire thefts from cell and radio towers in recent days. Police reports for these incidents did not identify a suspect.

Someone broke into multiple radio towers in the area of Gilbert and Broad Mountain roads, Letterkenny Township, and stole copper materials sometime between the evening of October 1, and 5:30 a.m. October 6, police said. The property is owned by Broadcast Sciences, Altoona.

Copper items were also stolen from a cell tower site at 2030 Path Valley Road, Metal Township, at about 3:30 a.m. October 6, according to Pennsylvania State Police/Chambersburg.
