DISH Network (NASDAQ: DISH) launched a wireless service that includes the iPhone 15 for customers that sign up for Boost Infinite’s new monthly subscription plan, Infinite Access for iPhone. Whereas Boost Mobile is the company’s brand for its MVNO service over the T-Mobile and AT&T networks, Boost Infinite is DISH’s brand for wireless service on its own 5G network. To date, DISH’s wireless subscribers are all Boost Mobile MVNO subscribers. The company reported 7.7 million wireless subscribers at the end of 2Q23, down from 7.9 million a year earlier. The company has not yet reported the number of its own 5G subscribers.
The new plan is intended to attract and keep subscribers on its 5G network. To that end, DISH has partnered with Apple (NASDAQ: AAPL) for access to iPhones and with Amazon (NASDAQ: AMZN) to handle sales and fulfillment of customer orders. Infinite Access for iPhone is available for $60 per month. Subscribers receive up to $1,000 off the new iPhone 15 lineup and will receive the latest iPhone every year along with unlimited talk, text, and data access. This collaboration marks the first time that Apple iPhone plans are available for purchase on Amazon.
“Right now, value is important to people,” John Swieringa, DISH Wireless president of technology and COO told Yahoo Finance, “and with us, you don’t have to sacrifice to get value.”
“We’re excited to offer the new iPhone 15 lineup and we know our customers will love the powerful camera and enhanced performance,” Swieringa adds. “Offering iPhone for the first time on the Boost Wireless Network is another proof point that we are positioning DISH to compete at scale, as the nation’s fourth wireless carrier. Our Open RAN network covers over 73 percent of the U.S. population with broadband and we haven’t stopped there. We now have the largest commercial deployment of 5G voice, or VoNR [voice over new radio], in the world, reaching more than 100 million Americans in over 60 markets, and we’re launching new markets every month.”
The Infinite Access for iPhone service includes access to America’s Smart Network that connects to Boost Infinite’s 5G partner networks in select markets. Subscribers also receive North America Connect service for calling in Canada and Mexico, and International Connect for overseas calls.
