EchoStar (NASDAQ: SATS) subsidiaries, DISH Network and Hughes Network Systems, announced a new bundled DISH satellite television with HughesNet satellite internet service offering for rural America. The company says that by combining the strength of the DISH Hopper whole-home DVR entertainment system with HughesNet, powered by the JUPITER 3 satellite, people living in even the most remote regions will receive “an unprecedented digital experience, [and] the best video service.”
The new HughesNet service plans offer download speeds of up to 100 Mbps, unlimited data and WiFi, allowing customers to enjoy video streaming, music downloads, video conferencing, and gaming. EchoStar says the combined technologies provide better coverage and performance throughout the entire home.
“Our mission at DISH has always been to serve rural America and change the way the world communicates, and now that focus is supercharged,” said Gary Schanman, EVP/Group President, DISH Video Services. “We have more capabilities … that complement one another, providing our customers with more options no matter where they live.”

DISH and Hughes are solving those hurdles by further advancing connectivity in rural communities to provide the best value in TV and Internet.”
HughesNet data plans range from $49.99 to $174.99 per month, depending on the data allowance. By comparison, DISH TV offers several programming packages with varying TV channel lineups that range from $84.99 per month for 190 channels up to $114.99 per month for over 290 channels including movie channels. EchoStar says that new customers who take advantage of the bundle by adding and maintaining both DISH TV and HughesNet internet services, will receive a $5 monthly savings off each service.
