DZS, a Plano, TX-headquartered developer of network edge, connectivity, and cloud software solutions, completed its acquisition of Sydney, Australia-based NetComm Wireless Pty Ltd, Dallas Innovates reported. The acquisition gives DZS an expanded footprint with customers in the U.S., Canada, Europe, Australia and New Zealand (ANZ), and Latin America. DZS says the expanded market reach enables it to provide communications service providers and enterprise customers alike with a comprehensive broadband networking portfolio.

DZS said that in conjunction with the acquisition, global investment firm EdgeCo LLC, headquartered in Pittsburgh, PA, increased its financial support of DZS. Terms of the additional investment were not disclosed.

“The NetComm acquisition underscores our commitment to provide communications service providers and enterprise customers with a comprehensive set of connectivity solutions that has now been expanded to include distribution point units, WiFi, fixed wireless access and industrial internet of things products,” says Charlie Vogt, DZS President and CEO. He added that NetComm enhances the DZS portfolio with “market-leading connectivity solutions” that “capitalize on our broadband anywhere vision and go-to-market strategy.”

DZS said the combination of its broadband networking solutions with NetComm’s connectivity portfolio is “uniquely designed for the network edge,” including the connected devices that interface with subscribers, enterprise users, machines, and cloud software.

EdgeCo Managing Director Robert Binkele said that his firm and its partners have been following the broadband evolution from DSL to PON “for more than 20 years. With great anticipation of the United States and other government broadband stimulus programs to be released during the 2H24 and into 2025, and service providers depleting what appears to have been an over-rotation of inventory, we believe that DZS is well-positioned across the North America, EMEA and now ANZ market segments as service providers return to normal purchasing cycles,” Binkele said.
