Empire Access, a Prattsburgh, NY-based fiber internet service provider in the Northeast U.S., recently announced plans to build out its fiber optic services in Canandaigua, NY this spring and in Carbondale, PA by the fall of 2023. Once completed, Empire Access will offer residents and businesses internet, TV, phone, and security solutions.
This Carbondale expansion follows Empire Access’ previously announced plans to build fiber in nearby Pennsylvania communities, Williamsport, and the Scranton-Dunmore area. The build out will offer internet speeds of up to 1 Gbps, and is a part of the company’s two-phase expansion in Pennsylvania.
Phase I, which includes the Scranton-Dunmore area, involves over 120 fiber route-miles that currently are under construction. The network is set to go live in the fall of 2023, with more than 14,000 home and business passings.
Furthermore, Empire Access will have teams stationed locally in Pennsylvania. “Unlike our competitors, our local team members and facilities provide us a unique opportunity to become active members in the community,” the company says.
More importantly, the company is raising the competitive bar in the communities where it is building out fiber. Jim Basse, Empire Access CEO points out that the company has entered new markets only to find the service that is currently available for the community does not meet the standards that Empire Access demands. Basse says, “We force our competition to improve their services by offering the community a better option for faster, lower priced internet service.”
