Cisco will integrate the Federated Wireless Automated Frequency Coordination (AFC) solution into Cisco Wireless 6 GHz capable access points, increasing range, speeds and capacity of WiFi 6E for enterprises, smart cities, and campus automation.

With the AFC solution, Federated Wireless extends its capabilities and market reach beyond its spectrum access system for the Citizens Broadband Radio Service (CBRS).

In addition to shielding 6 GHz incumbents from interference, the Federated Wireless AFC will enable Cisco Wireless indoor and outdoor access points to maximize the use of available spectrum and transmit at higher power levels in the 6 GHz band. Advanced technology deployments will be enabled, such as automated robotics, digital twin logistics, automated intelligence and more.

The Cisco announcement is the second win for Federated Wireless to automate shared spectrum WiFi 6E deployments this year. In January, Airspan Networks Inc. chose Federated Wireless as its Automated Frequency Coordination (AFC) service provider for its Fixed Wireless Access 6-series line of products: A6, C6x and B6x.

Airspan will test and fully integrate Federated Wireless’ AFC into the Airspan 6 series product line.
