Fiber Connect 2023 ended yesterday in Orlando but not until the Fiber Broadband Association presented awards to those making a difference in the industry. These awards include the Star Award, the Photon Award, the Gene Scott Education Award and the Lifetime Achievement Award.
The Star Award and Photon Awards are presented annually at Fiber Connect to celebrate outstanding contributions to the fiber broadband industry. Brendan O’Boyle from Preformed Line Products (PLP) won the 2023 Photon Award and Northern Colorado Community Fiber won the 2023 Star Award.
The Gene Scott Award recognizes a person, community, or institution that has significantly impacted the advancement of education in the fiber industry. This year, S&N Communications, a provider of turn-key infrastructure construction, power distribution construction, gas construction, design, and underground utility locating services, received the award.
The Lifetime Achievement Award was presented to Stephen Hardy in recognition of his more than 40 years of covering the industry. Hardy, who retired in June 30, as Editorial Director for Lightwave and Broadband Technology Report, was cited as a “trusted pillar” of the fiber broadband editorial community.
