A former FCC employee that worked in a division that handles telecom issues has joined the Wilkinson Barker Knauer, LLP law firm (WBK) as a partner in the Washington, D.C. office. Georgios Leris was Associate Division Chief for the Competition and Infrastructure Policy Division in the FCC’s Wireless Telecommunications Bureau.
Prior to joining the FCC, Leris spent eight years in private practice at a major law firm, providing strategic advice to clients about the Commission’s net neutrality proceedings, transactions involving licenses, and court appeals of agency decisions. At the agency, he primarily worked on wireless infrastructure deployments, environmental and historic preservation compliance, and spectrum allocation considerations.
“His intellect, drive, and commitment to service at the FCC and in private practice have established him as a rising star in the bar,” said Managing Partner Bryan Tramont. “Many members of the firm have come to know Leris through his various roles along the way and have always enjoyed and admired him as a skilled and thoughtful advocate. We look forward to building his practice and gaining his insights across the firm’s telecommunications portfolio.”
“I have admired WBK since I started practicing communications and technology law,” added Leris.
