Golden 1 Center, home of the NBA’s Sacramento Kings, has selected Boldyn Networks US, to upgrade the arena for 5G. Boldyn will upgrade, operate, and monitor the distributed antenna system (DAS) that supports wireless connectivity at the arena.

Boldyn says its DAS network will support all 5G spectrum bands used by the major mobile network operators, providing seamless and high-quality mobile connections throughout the venue. This connectivity will enable expanded digital initiatives, improve venue operations, and enhance communications capabilities that will benefit fans, visitors, staff, and vendors alike, according to the company.

“We are excited to partner with Boldyn to enhance our connectivity and elevate the fan experience at Golden 1 Center,” said John Rinehart, Sacramento Kings President of Business Operations. “From streamlined ticketing to seamless in-seat ordering and cutting-edge AR/VR opportunities, this partnership will ensure the arena remains at the forefront of advancing technology.”

“Providing fans with a seamless experience at a live event requires fast, reliable connectivity,” said Christos Karmis, Boldyn Networks US CEO. “Boldyn and the Sacramento Kings both believe in pushing the boundaries for events. Our next generation 5G venue infrastructure will provide unparalleled access to advanced technologies that will help the Sacramento Kings, and their fans, take their game to the next level.”

The Golden 1 Center project adds to Boldyn Networks US’s deployments of in-building wireless systems in sports and entertainment venues, with notable deployments at Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse, home of the Cleveland Cavaliers, and the Cowtown Coliseum in Fort Worth, TX, Inside Towers reported.
