Blount Broadcasting Corporation has taken down three towers they used for AM stations now that they are no longer being used. The towers used by WKVL-AM went dark on December 14, and the company that owns the land, Horne Properties, has decided to taken down the structures to prevent aviation hazards and for aesthetic reasons. WATO-AM, which went offline in April 2010, and WMTY-FM both used the WKVL-AM tower. “We want to clean up the land and be a good neighbor,” Horne Radio manager Tony Cox told All Access. “When you look at the subdivisions next door, these towers were eyesores just sitting there.”
