Robotics is said to be a key monetization vector for carriers that have invested into 5G technology. For example, Singapore mobile operator M1 Limited now offers a telemedicine service that can send out medical supplies via drone to workers on a ship as part of its four 5G offerings targeted at the maritime industry, according to ZDNet.
The drone service is part of M1’s 5G standalone-powered solution-in-a-box suite, which includes M1 SMARTsafe, M1 SMARTsecure, M1 SMARTasset, and M1 SMARTops. The new services will provide new revenue streams providing end-to-end services to customers, taking advantage of offshore coverage on the Southern Coast of Singapore.
The details of the suite of solutions, include:
- M1 SMARTsafe – Worker safety solutions aim to detect risk and forecast accidents based on past data using machine learning
- M1 SMARTsecure – Security surveillance and management solutions bring lag-free and real-time video surveillance at sea
- M1 SMARTasset – Asset uptime solutions use autonomous robotics for inspection of critical assets
- M1 SMARTops – Workforce productivity solutions come with 5G-powered tools, such as smart glasses to help businesses enhance productivity and efficiency
