Mobix Labs Inc. (NASDAQ: MOBX), a semiconductor company, is partnering with TalkingHeads Wireless (THW) to develop 5G base stations that use AI technology to optimize and reduce tower energy consumption. Mobix Labs’ portfolio of products — including ICs, antennas, active optical cables and transceivers — is designed to deliver advantages in performance, efficiency, cost and size for 5G base stations, according to Mobix.
This collaboration follows Mobix Labs’ recent acquisition of RaGE Systems, which provides RF joint design and manufacturing services. RaGE Systems has been contracted to help develop solutions that significantly reduce the power consumption of base stations.
THW and Mobix share a commitment to sustainability in 5G technology, according to Fabian Battaglia, CEO of Mobix Labs.
THW is “on a mission” to create energy-efficient alternatives for 5G O-RAN towers, according to Joel Dawson, THW Founder and CEO. THW’s smart network tower solutions are designed to lower energy consumption, addressing the challenge of increasing data traffic without proportional increases in energy costs.
