More cell sites are having problems the longer that Puerto Rico has been without power due to Hurricane Fiona. Just over 26 percent of the Island’s cell sites were not working on Thursday, according to the FCC’s Disaster Information Reporting System (DIRS) Report. That compares to a high of 30 percent on Wednesday.

Almost one million residents were without power. Some power was due to be restored by today, according to Bloomberg. Power restoration has been ongoing, but full restoration “will take at least several days,” according to White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre.

666 sites out of a total of 2,522 were non-operational on Thursday, compared to 748 the previous day. 598 sites had no power and 505 were on backup power. Another 65 were not working due to data transport issues and three were damaged.

San Juan County continues to have the largest number of outages; 86 out of 344 sites weren’t working, according to the DIRS report. 75 sites had no power and 11 had data transport issues. Another 24 are running on backup power.

Cable and wireline companies reported 703,576 subscribers out of service in the disaster area for Hurricane Fiona; this includes the loss of telephone, television and/or internet services. That compares to 741,451 customer outages the previous day.

No TV stations said they were off-air. Five FMs and four AMs reported being off-air. No 911 call centers were affected, according to the FCC.
