NATE: The Communications Infrastructure Contractors Association, Safety LMS, SBA Communications Corporation, and Wiley law firm facilitated a communications tower climbing experience on Wednesday, September 14, at a tower site in Odenton, MD. The experience was part of a donated prize from the Federal Communications Bar Association Foundation’s 31st Annual Charity Auction.
The “Climb Like a Commissioner” event consisted of an expert-guided communications tower climb for the auction prize winner participants Coleman Bazelon, Austin Lajoie, Yong Paek, Paroma Sanyal, and Ryan Taylor.
During the experience, participants had an opportunity to learn about the work that is conducted by contractors and technicians to build, maintain, and deploy communications sites and related wireless broadband infrastructure. Participants then went through a comprehensive safety briefing and PPE equipment demonstration before conducting the actual tower climb with the certified safety trainers from Safety LMS.
FCC Commissioner Brendan Carr made a surprise appearance at the event and participated in a tower climb with the auction winners. Additionally, Warriors4Wireless President/CEO Kevin Kennedy was a special guest.
