New FCC Application Fees Effective Today

The FCC has revised its application fees to adjust for increases in the Consumer Price Index. The changes impact wireless and wireline operators and commercial AM, FM and television stations. The 11.6 percent price increase is effective today, March 2.

Some of the new wireless telecom services fees for site-based applications are $150 for a special temporary authority (STA), $105 for a new license or major modification and $50 for extension requests. 

Site-based license applications are $425. Geographic-based license applications for a new license or major license modification are $340 and applications for construction notification or extensions are now $325. STAs are $375.

For broadcasters, new or major change license applications for full-power commercial and Class A television stations are now $4,755 per application (if no auction) and $5,395 per application if it’s auction-related. License renewals are $370 per application and STAs are $300 each.

Commercial FM fees for a new license or major modification are $3,675 per application if no auction is involved. The number jumps to $4,290 if the application is auction-related. A new license is $260 and renewal is $365. The fee for an FM directional antenna is $705. An STA is $235.

Commercial AM fees for a new or major change or construction permit are $4,440 per application and a new license is $425. An AM directional antenna is $1,405 and license renewal is $365.
