Installed as part of a Quality-of-Life improvement for Soldiers initiative, a new 5G Verizon cell tower is now part of the Fort Bliss US Army military base community in Texas. The tower was constructed by Boldyn Networks as the first of ten expected cell towers. As DVIDS Hub reports, the cell tower project supports the base’s “It’s Better at Bliss” campaign aimed at making everyday life more satisfactory for those stationed there.
“Cell phones are an organic part of what we do to stay connected with people that we care about, stay dialed in to what’s happening in the world and support mission-related communications,” stated Col. Brendan R. Gallagher.
Command Sgt. Maj. David N. Sweeney and Lt. Col. Gino Hernandez, garrison chaplain, joined Gallagher in attending the golden shovel ceremony to break ground for the new cell tower.
“The Exchange is thrilled to provide this amazing Quality-of-Life improvement for the Fort Bliss community,” Cahalan told DVIDS Hub. “For service members, families and personnel on post, connectivity is an absolute priority and is vital to their readiness. The community spoke, leaders listened, and the Exchange is honored to help deliver the best to our heroes.”
