Away from its vast urban areas, much of California is rural, and in need of greater connectivity. As Tech Republic reports, an agreement with Nokia and AggreGateway will help bridge the digital divide for students in the San Joaquin valley.
“Working with Nokia and AggreGateway, we are taking the next steps to level the field and ensure every student has the same access to our learning facilities,” said Paoze Lee, technology systems director of the Dos Palos-Oro Loma school district.
Nokia Private 4G/LTE Digital Automation Cloud operating in the CBRS/On-Go GAA spectrum will deliver connectivity to approximately 2,400 students. The equipment being used includes Nokia FastMile 4G Gateways and Wi-Fi Beacons. A Nokia rep said that the outreach is similar to arrangements Nokia has with some indigenous populations, but with CBRS spectrum rather than EBS spectrum.
The Dos Palos-Oro Loma school district;s technology team will operate the new LTE network via a Nokia DAC Cloud monitoring application.LTE/Wi-Fi hotspots will also be provided to the students, who will be able to connect to the network with any standard laptop or tablet.
“Being able to implement a Nokia private wireless solution for the students has been beyond rewarding,” said AggreGateway President, Octavio Navarro.
