Nokia (NYSE: NOK) announced the availability of new, optimized Core Network software solutions for the field area network and wide area network (FAN/WAN) needs of public safety and power utilities. The new Core expands Nokia’s portfolio for large, mission-critical enterprises and governments.

Nokia Core Enterprise Solutions are an integral component of Nokia’s strategic private wireless initiative. Core Enterprise Solutions are based on the company’s widely deployed Core products used by public mobile network operators but designed to operate on a smaller scale. These features are optimized to help enterprises take advantage of secure carrier-grade capabilities for increased automation, productivity, and efficiency.

Nokia’s new Core solutions are tailored to the specific mission-critical network needs of public safety organizations and power utilities, and include optimized coverage and operational requirements along with streamlined deployment and technical support.

The company says that these Core solutions bring together 4G and 5G data, voice, and subscriber/device management capabilities on one platform, and enable broadband-enhanced devices for public safety communications and IoT in power utilities. Nokia indicates that these Core solutions will be commercially available later this year.

Fran Heeran, Nokia SVP/GM-Core Networks, Cloud and Network Services, says, “Nokia Core Enterprise Solutions will provide important catalysts for accelerating digital transformation for enterprises in public safety and power utilities. They will modernize large scale enterprise networks, as well as provide important broadband capabilities and a clear path to deploying private 5G for the WAN.”

The company estimates that the addressable market for its Core Network Solutions in enterprise FAN/WAN private networks will increase by about 50 percent to roughly $1.6 billion by 2027, from approximately $1.1 billion today.
