Federal agencies reported $64.3 billion appropriated for high-speed internet initiatives in FY22. That’s according to NTIA’s “2023 Federal Broadband Funding Report,” which analyzes broadband investments in Fiscal Year 2022 (October 2021-September 2022) reported by agencies. NTIA had just over $48 million and the FCC had $14.2 million appropriated for broadband in the same time-frame.
Other report highlights:
- Federal agencies spent a total of $11.4 billion in obligations for broadband infrastructure deployment from FY21 to FY22.
- Federal broadband outlays by program grew 120 percent from $6.7 billion to $14.7 billion in the period.
The report and new dashboard also summarizes steps NTIA is pursuing to assess the economic impact of broadband expansion programs. The dashboard:
- Includes spending data from 12 agencies across 70 federal high-speed Internet programs.
- Reports tribal broadband funding.
- Includes data by federal program at the state level.
- Breaks out funding appropriated by Congress, awarded for spending by program and spent by program.
