London’s Olympic Park, home to campuses, workspace, venues and sports facilities, is being converted into a 560-acre, digital ecosystem for supporting solutions for sustainable cities. The effort is being spearheaded by SHIFT, which is a collaboration between the London Legacy Development Corporation and several universities. Also involved are UCL Connected Environents and Arup, a collective of designers, engineering and sustainability consultants.

“We invite you to experiment, collaborate and innovate,” said SHIFT Digital Frontiers. “Through our Testbed and Ecosystem, we’re powering the next generation of city and world changing innovations. Whether you’re a startup, corporate, community group or university, we can help you transform your disruptive innovation into an everyday reality.”

The venue, known as Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park (QEOP), will provide a hub for disparate data sets that have been developed over the past decades. The data will be available to researchers to analyze, providing situational awareness, trends, and the historical background in order to create more advanced technology.

“Making this data Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, and Reusable by machines will create valuable opportunities for all stakeholders at QEOP,” according to SHIFT. “As technology is expected to develop fast, the coming years are crucial in building the digital foundation and developing the building blocks on which future technology can operate in the most optimal way,” they said.
