Carriers are making substantial progress in cell site restoration in Maui, HI. Ten out of 21 cell sites are now operational, according to the FCC. The information was accurate as of 6 a.m. Eastern Daylight Time on Tuesday for the cell sites serving Kapalua, Napili-Honokowai, Kaanapali, Lahaina, Launiupoko, and Olowalu.

That compares to 19 out of 21 cell sites not working on Monday, Inside Towers reported.

The agency’s Public Safety and Homeland Security Bureau is collecting the information for its Disaster Information Reporting System (DIRS). The island’s 911 system remains “fully functional,” according to DIRS. The bureau cautions that some calls are not being completed because the Lahaina switch is isolated and some cell sites in the area remain non-operational.

The amount of cable and wireline subscribers without service remains stable at 16,700 subscribers, according to providers. The outages may include the loss of telephone, television, and/or internet services.
