Nearly $40 million has been provisionally awarded to expand broadband access in southern York County, Sen. Kristin Phillips-Hill (R-York) announced this week. The funding comes through the Pennsylvania Broadband Development Authority, which Phillips-Hill helped establish.
“Reliable high-speed internet is a necessity, not a luxury,” she said, highlighting the impact on education, healthcare, and jobs.
The funds are part of Pennsylvania’s $800 million share from the federal BEAD Program. In partnership with Comcast (NASDAQ: CMCSA), the investment will connect underserved homes, schools, and businesses, while also supporting digital access programs and workforce development across the county.
