The Funded Divide
The gap between those with and without access to broadband has become known as the “Digital Divide.” With an increase of employers permanently implementing a work-from-home mentality and educational systems deploying a hybrid of in-class and distance learning, internet access has established itself as a true necessity. To assist in closing this digital divide the National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) has recently released the state allocations in the $42.5 billion Broadband Equity Access and Deployment (BEAD) program.
This funding program was established by the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA) for States to utilize for broadband deployment, mapping, and adoption projects. States are now presenting their funding utilization plans for the next few years of deployment and development. Many discussions have begun and continue to lay down the foundation for what type of deployments would be most suitable. What should these deployments look like and what type of infrastructure and product solutions should be used?
Reliable Infrastructure
For over 40 years, PerfectVision has connected businesses and consumers across the world to information, education, and entertainment through voice, video and data technologies. PerfectVision Infrastructure product lines are developed based on input from contractors, owners, carriers, and regulators. They take a different approach to product design with the following goals in mind: advocate for tower worker safety, handle current and future loading, produce the highest quality products, and keep things simple for all stakeholders. PerfectVision offers a wide selection of mounts, sector frames, brackets, towers, ice bridges, and more.
With an increase in the demand for data connection, the need for reliably designed infrastructure has grown. PerfectVision’s PV-DAPC-U is a dual antenna pipe clamp with an upper and lower set that fits a round member of outer diameter between 1.5 inches up to 3.5 inches. At 20 pounds, this product solution offers a solid and innovative antenna deployment solution. Giving the consumer the ability to create easily customizable mounting lengths. PerfectVision’s pipe standoff bracket (PV-S2) provides a 24 inch standoff solution for an antenna application. Mounting to round and angle legs up to 6 inches, this Hot-Dipped Galvanized standoff features a welded design for strength and stability.
Reaching Gigabit Speeds
Due to the expected influx of internet consumers gigabit speeds is in higher demand. A push for faster and symmetrical speeds has resulted in an industry implementing full or partial fiber optic solutions into networks across the country. PerfectVision carries a full array of fiber solutions, including bulk fiber, adapters, trunk fiber, drop fiber, test equipment and accessories to assist in constructing fiber-based applications. Their LL-500 wall mount fiber enclosure (FM000326) provides a solutions for organizing, splicing and interconnecting fibers in broadband, distribution and building entrance applications. Fabricated from steel, with an electrostatically applied powder coat, this fiber enclosure supports up to five LL-2450 splice trays for up to 60 single fusion splices. This allows for multiple solutions for supplying gigabit speeds to deployments inside of networks.
PerfectVision’s flat drop fiber cable (Flat Drop Cable) offers the most flexible solution for fiber to the premise applications. The drop cable unit allows for easy location after installation and small profile reduces cost, while increasing both ease of use and access to small conduits. This product is a low-cost solution to the network’s last 100 meters. The durable design incorporates two dielectric rigid rods for tensile and crush protection, bracketing a single enhanced loose tube containing up to 12 optical fibers.
