According to a recent SNS Telecom & IT report, mobile core and transport network infrastructure will account for approximately $900 million by the end of the year. The annual investments in LTE and 5G NR-based CBRS, including 150 MHz of spectrum in the 3.5 GHz band, are expected to increase.
The report also noted a compound annual growth rate increase of 20 percent through 2026, with estimates indicating spending will surpass $1.5 billion. The activities driving the growth include private cellular, neutral host, fixed wireless broadband network deployments, and 5G buildouts.
“LTE-based CBRS network deployments have gained considerable momentum in recent years and encompass hundreds of thousands of cell sites,” the report said. Additionally, commercial rollouts of 5G NR network equipment operating in the CBRS band have commenced, supporting higher demand requirements regarding throughput, latency, reliability, availability, and connection density, according to SNS Telecom & IT. Verizon Wireless is one operator that plans to activate 5G NR-equipped CBRS small cells to augment its 5G services.
