Amazon’s Project Kuiper got a major lift early Wednesday as SpaceX’s Falcon 9 rocket launched 24 satellites into orbit, marking the third deployment for the growing broadband network, according to UPI. Liftoff occurred at 2:30 a.m. EDT from Cape Canaveral, with the Kuiper satellites entering low Earth orbit 289 miles above the planet. Amazon devices chief Panos Panay thanked SpaceX and celebrated the milestone on X, noting excitement for the expanding constellation.
The Falcon 9’s first stage successfully landed on the droneship “A Shortfall of Gravitas” minutes after launch. With 78 Kuiper satellites now in orbit, Amazon aims to deploy over 3,200 through more than 80 future launches.
