Sprint announced last week that they will be offering a new service to iPhone customers that will allow high-quality calls over Wi-Fi. Sprint has been working to enhance their network, offload some of the congestion from their towers and this should help. “Wi-Fi Calling is like a major expansion of our network, allowing Sprint customers to get coverage anywhere they have Wi-Fi connectivity,” said David Owens, senior vice president of product development for Sprint. “Traditional wireless technology has some limitations in places like basements and high-rise office buildings. Wi-Fi expands our customer’s connectivity in a big way. The addition of Wi-Fi Calling for iPhone customers is just one more example of how Sprint is getting better every day.” Wi-Fi hotspots are all over the place now, and these will allow Sprint customers to access the Wi-Fi calling when cellular service is limited. “The experience is easy to use and similar to adding thousands of new towers overnight to improve coverage for Sprint customers,” the company explained.
