What is the top concern of sports venues this year? According to Stadium Tech Report, in its annual Stadium Connectivity Outlook survey, finding enough people to help staff the return of capacity crowds to venues was a leading concern among the stadium technology professionals who participated in the survey.

In a partnership with sponsor Verizon, Stadium Tech Report reached out to its audience and asked them to participate in its second Stadium Connectivity Outlook survey. The survey asked a wide range of questions about the current state of a venue’s connectivity, and where the venues, teams and schools would prioritize investments and strategies. Their answers are now available in both a survey results format and an accompanying white paper that summarizes the data.

The white paper and survey results can be downloaded here. In addition to staffing replacing COVID as the top concern, some key takeaways from this year’s survey include:

  • Venues are looking to add more wireless connectivity, for fans and for back of house
  • Cashierless concessions and walk-through security technologies are being deployed rapidly
  • Private 5G is a target for supporting important back of house innovation
  • Even as venues feel good about their digital transformation journey, security remains a growing concern

“These are not just our words,” said Editor-in-Chief Paul Kapustka, “but the insights of our audience — honest feedback that provides an industry-wide perspective on the common issues facing venues of all shapes and sizes, from large NFL and college football stadiums to more-intimate sized venues, like concert halls.”
