Stainless says it’s going out of business. In an email sent to several radio and tv groups, telecoms and engineering consultants, FDH Infrastructure Services, LLC (FDH-is,) owner of Stainless, says that’s the plan after 77 years of serving the telecom and broadcast tower markets. Stainless VP Broadcast Services Gregg Fehrman says the “Stainless ownership has decided to close the doors on all future Stainless Tower operations” in the email, which was shared with Inside Towers. “As part of the wind-down, Stainless ownership is looking to sell off 77 years of tower details,” he adds.

These items are for sale:

  • 15,900 total projects spanning from 1947 to present day, covering over 7,250 Stainless built tower structures and 910 towers built by others.
  • Project files include but are not limited to; erection drawings, foundation drawings, fabrication drawings, geotechnical data, engineering calculations and correspondence.
  • Tower design standards (fabrication drawings) covering both self-support and guyed configurations utilized throughout Stainless’ history.

The company says it scanned and digitized most of the legacy project data. Over 1,500 linear feet of legacy paper docs were scanned for easy access and reference several years back. It notes “the tower standards are comprised of both digital and paper documentation.”

“Ownership will sell either copies of the documentation or exclusive rights for same documentation on each tower number. Information will not be parsed,” states the company in the note. “If copies are requested, the whole file/history will be released for each tower project number. Ownership will also entertain selling all project and standards data together for one purchase price.”

Interested parties are asked to reply to the email from Stainless Tower Experts: [email protected] with a request for a quote. The company also seeks information to help identify the particular tower project:

  1. Location (city, state)
  2. Site Coordinates
  3. Tower Type
  4. Tower Height
  5. Year of Original Construction
  6. Original Owner
  7. Call Letters of Primary Tenant
  8. Stainless Project Number

Messages to FDH-is from Inside Towers were not returned as of press time.
