With the U.S. serving as a model, T-Mobile (NASDAQ: TMUS) has launched its 5G Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) service in parts of Puerto Rico. According to Mobile World Live, T-Mobile will be able to offer the upgrade to customers with an eligible address and a qualifying voice line. The company has said that service is available for $50 a month with autopay. Additionally, T-Mobile noted there will be no added taxes on qualifying accounts, monthly fees or equipment costs for FWA customers.
T-Mobile indicated that it intends to offer the FWA product in areas with the “network capacity to provide a great experience to all customers.” The MNO said that its network capacity in Puerto Rico “is increasing all the time, and 5G Home Internet service will continue expanding to more people.”
As an incentive to sign up, T-Mobile Puerto Rico VP/GM Jorge Martel stated that subscribers will receive a $100 T-Mobile gift card after they enroll, reports Mobile World Live. T-Mobile is also allowing customers to try the service for free for 15 days. The deal will cover up to $750 in early termination fees from other internet service providers for customers who switch to T-Mobile.
Interested customers can pick-up gateways from retail stores. The service can then be installed in approximately 15 minutes after the new customer downloads an app.
