Teleste, based in Littoinen, Finland, has secured four customer approvals and field deployments for its 1.8 GHz Smart Amplifiers in North America, reported Broadband TV News. The achievement marks an “industry first” for the Finnish broadband equipment manufacturer. With the increased orders, Telestre will pursue mass production, ramping up operations in its automated factory.
Hanno Narjus, head of Teleste’s Broadband Networks business unit, noted that the smart technology — DOCSIS 4.0 compliant 1.8 GHz ICON amplifiers — will help cable companies achieve 10 Gbps service by providing maximum line speeds, service quality, and network availability.
“The cable industry’s promise to deliver 10 Gbps speeds is starting to materialize,” said Narjus. “When Cable MSOs and technology providers agreed years ago on the common vision of 10G services to the consumers, we knew there would be a lot of heavy lifting to be done to fulfill this promise. We at Teleste feel pride when we can now announce the industry’s first customer approvals and commercial deliveries, and I’d like to thank our customers, partners and Teleste team for making this milestone possible.”
