Tower Collapse Prompts Residents to Question Safety

People have heard about workers falling from cell towers, but it was news to them that they could just collapse. After the towers collapsing in Summit Park, West Virginia last week, local residents are questioning the safety of these structures. Towers collapsing out of the blue aren’t common, but they may fall over due to inclement weather or other natural disasters. However, President of MidAmerica Towers Inc. recently explained that guyed-towers have anchors that could be rotting and the rot can be six to eight feet underground and you can’t see it. This is a hidden danger to tower climbers, which puts them at risk. Many people in the West Virginia area are wondering what caused these specific towers to collapse and if there is potential for this to happen in the future.
